The North Hudson Academy, a First Children’s School is a private special education school approved by the New Jersey Department of Education. Established in 1989, the school offers programs for students with behavioral/emotional issues, pre-school handicapped and learners on the Autism Spectrum.
The educational philosophy of the North Hudson Academy is to provide high quality therapeutic and related support services for the special education student while maintaining a level of enriched instructional delivery that will maximize student potential and insure a successful return to a less restrictive environment or high school graduation.

In 2025, First Children Services proudly welcomed North Hudson Academy into our family of programs. We are honored to continue the meaningful legacy established by the McCarthy family, whose dedication shaped NHA into a trusted, mission‑driven institution.
